The Leica Tri Elmar lenses were really neat, but a lot of people were put off by the speed of the lenses, including me. My mind has been wondering this for a little while but would it not be possible to make a different lens on the same prospect, say....a 28-50 or 35-50 Dual Elmarit f2.8 with a body size similar to the 28-35-50 Tri Elmar?
Maybe a new pet project for the wizards at Zeiss to compute. I know I would be very interested in such a lens as I switch between 35 and 50 often enough for it to be annoying.
Any thoughts?

I have pondered this myself. Only I would hold out for a smaller lens, or that is to say, a shorter one, that does not stick out so far in front. The TE is a retrofocus lens, and those seem to have to be longer when the focal length is shorter. So I would skip the 28mm focal length, and suggest a 35/50 Bi-Elmarit. Or at least that is what I would have called it, until a fellow on another thread suggested the following: Zeiss should make it. Then it can be a "Bi-Biogon."

that would be quite confusing, the bibiogon, then when you sell it it becomes the bye bye bibiogon....ok bad joke...
