Is B+W 220 dead??

Is B&W 220 dead?

When, about 6 weeks ago that Kodak was killing 220 TXP, I purchased 30 rolls of it from B&H and Freestyle. I use it in my Bronica RF645. I'll be shotting 2 or 3 of those rolls at the 5th. Ave. Easter Parade this Sunday here in NYC.

Six weeks ago I picked up forty rolls of TXP220, and found another 20 rolls of PXP220. I have six Hasselblad A24 backs, color is still no problem, but it's good to still get some B&W 220 while it's still available.

It's too bad, really. 220 was great for shooting weddings and fast moving events.

Looks like 220 B+W is gone and no film producers seem interested in filling the void. Now would it be crazy to tape two 120 rolls back to back?

Not crazy, but as far as I understand it the thickness of 120 and 220 are so different that it is not doable (120 has paper backing all the way 220 not).

On the other hand, I have read somewhere on the internet that film will never die, it will outlive us all so there has be someone out there that produces B&W 220 film 🙂

Frankly I think it's not feasible.
You have to reassemble the film and paper, and you cannot make sure that the 11th or 12th shot won't be cut by the film limit.
