is it cv or vc?

Fred,

We can be elitist if we wish; when Cosina revived the Voigtländer brand there're those who say the products would not deserve the name as it's not made in Germany. I wonder if they're well-informed enough to know that Voigtländer started out in Vienna and left because Peter Voigtländer tried to avoid getting sued by Joseph Petzval. If their point was valid then all German-made Voigtländers would be un-kosher. There again also consider the Schering period too: while a lot of fine equipment were made, Voigtländer was pretty much treated as a firm producing machines for consuming film. To me I reckon under the ownership of Cosina the Voigtländer marque has done a lot better than it did during any prior periods.

I see again a common criticism that Cosina dared to lease the Voigtlander name for their cameras but I never ever heard that same criticism of Kyocera when it did the same to the Contax name. I think this has more to do with a company like Cosina proving itself that it can make decent lenses, thats upsets people who were in their comfort zone to see Cosina as a 2nd rate camera and lens manufacturer and enjoyed mocking them.
