Is it just me who buys cameras when i get dumped ? ;)

That hanging around here too much aint good for the GAS is common knowledge, been having a walkabout in Buenos Aires 2nd hand stores for cameras to day, and found a Contax S with a carl Zeiss Jena Biotar 2/58. Fits me perfect since I´v have birthday next week, nice gifts are always nice 🙂 But then I start thinking, which is never a good thing, because sometimes you realise stuff that explains a bit more than needful.

Huum, when did i buy my stereo ?, well it was when i was dumped my my girlfriend in 96, i didn't have to travel to see here more. When did I buy the 85mm 1,4 for Nikon and the extra FM house? lets see . . didn't i get dumped by someone a month before?
And didn't the same girl dump me again just about the time I´v bought the contax G2? And what about the M6, didn't you give up the girl of your dreams for good just about that time ?, No that was just coincidence . . :angel:

So is it just me who has this "random" pattern ?

I just wonder.
I should start drinking instead of, as normal people when it fails 😀

I do the same thing... not having a significant other around definitely increases the amount of cash available for my little obsession. At least cameras are easier on the liver 😀.

every since a year ago I broke up with my girlfriend, I've been trading in cameras. If only I had the money and didn't need to sell my cameras to afford the new ones. I would have at least 6 cameras by now. My canonet just arrived and I already have an eye on an OM2n with Vivitar macro 55/2.8 for close up work.

At least cameras are reasonably cheap to buy. When I was single and got dumped (many moons ago) I used to buy large quantities of Tequila which inevitably led to stunt driving which led to 4 new cars. New cars vs. cameras is a no brainer. Usually exactly what I was exhibiting while drunk, no brains, LOL.

Nope, she only has brothers, too bad for you guys... (on of her brothers is tatooed from neck to toes, might make a good photo subject!)
Oscar, you should have chosen a different major at university - see, in my major (pedagogics) , there's about 10 girls per guy - I don't even notice how often I get hit on any longer... 😉
BTW, I just came back from a seminar - I gave a presentation about 'Neurodevelopmental treatment - the Bobath concept and its relation to pedagogics' (roughly translated), now I'm already thinking how to gratify myself for having done all the work for that (still have to write a paper, though); that's when I tend to buy stuff for myself - as a kind of 'bonus' when I've completed something I put a lot of work into.

Brian, well, some do - see, there's not many guys around, so there's not much choice for the girls - and you do spend a lot of work together in classes, doing group projects, etc...
Hint: Nicole studied pedagogics, too (though I met her at a mutual friend's party before I found out).
Now, on the other hand, in computer sciences the f-m ratio is the opposite, so not the best place to look for someone if you're a guy.

Tell me, times have changed but when I started (1995 😱 ) the ratio was even lower than on RFF, Some classes were 1-2f vs 40-60m, so you get the idea...

Indeed, even the faculty itself started an advertising campaign which said 'girl, don't be afraid of engineering', probably they should have written 'dont be afraid of engineers' !

Roman, congrats on your presentation, btw, that for a moment or two I was scared, as I read 'graffity' instead of 'gratify' ...

I'm hoping they show the match here on the telly. Sounds like it was a fantastic game! You wonder what Crespo thought just after half-time, 3-0 up and Carlos scores. Shades of Istanbul - oh oh!! 😱

Peter, I think they would show the game at Cafe Paradiso in Harvard Square. I will probably be in New York on Friday but otherwise I might go to see if they will show it or not.
