is it possible these days to take a street photo where someone isn't on a cell phone?

I just submitted a portfolio to Sante Fe workshops. 20 street images all shot within the past 4 months. None of them contained any people holding cellphones.
 
Yes you can, you just have to get away from the hubs of civilization. Here in Great Falls, Montana, it's often possible to take a street photo at noon with no cell phones visible. But then it's equally possible to take a street photo with no one walking around. And we're one of the bigger "cities" in MT. Oh, we got people, just not wall to wall people - which is exactly how I like it.
