is it possible to use LTM lenses on a DSLR?

I just thought, it would be cool to use some russian lenses on a digital rebel. The J-12 would be the normal lens and j-3 a tele 🙂
is this possible? are there converters/adapters?

In one word, no.

It should be possible to use them as macro lenses with extension tubes.
Since all dSLRs I know off don't have real mirror lock up, you can't even use the lenses deep into the mirrorbox with an external viewfinder like it was done on some Nikon bodies back in those days.

You cannot use them at infinity, as they are too "close" to the film/sensor at that setting. Also, as they are designed for mirrorless bodies they will protrude into your (D)SLR and damage the mirror.

That's weird.. LTM lenses can mount on M-bodies, and M-lenses can mount on EOS-bodies (and retain infinity focus, I do believe?), but LTM lenses cannot properly function on EOS-bodies?

Oh well. You can mount them on Nikon DSLR's as well, some ebayer sells the adaptors, but you lose infinity focus.

You can get an M42 adaptor for most DSLR's and I believe you can get adaptors for the Leica R lenses.

I would recommend Asahi Pentax Super-Takumar lenses! The 135 is one of the best I ever owned (and sold, I fear, a long time ago)

For all I use my DSLR for, M42 lenses make an economical approach. I like them much. But I want something faster than f/2.8 in the 100 to 135 range. Does such a thing exist? Cheaply?

(Still considering a the Jupiter 85/2...)

There is a Zenith 85/2 in M42, it is even called Jupiter-9 🙂
