Regular camera

My prepared camera bag nearly always has a Canon P or Bessa R w/a 50/45/35 lens up front, however neither is a "pocket" camera. If space is a concern the XA/A11 with whatever out of date film is at hand . If space and speed is the main thing I haul the Sony Cybershot. No film and with the built in flash it's smaller than the XA without the A11! Light and tiny, but I still prefer the Canon P. It just feels right.:D

I always have my iPhone with me.
When possible I carry either (sometimes both) my Fuji GA645zi or Olympus 35SP in a small ice chest in my truck for unexpected shots. I also keep my Fuji W1 3D camera in the case with the 35SP for when I see a great 3D shot.

If I plan to go our shooting I take the camera(s) I think are best suited for the subject or the one(s) I want to play with that day.

Recently I've been carrying a Leica IIIc w/ Summar, Canon 50mm 1.8 or J3. I almost never use it though. The last month I've either been at home, at the office or driving between the two. None are great shooting opportunities unfortunately.

I sold an XA a while ago and settled on the XA4 as a pocket camera. Even that was a bit large for my pockets though so I usually just have a small camera bag.

I usually have a trip 35 in my bag and my iPhone 4 in my pocket. The trip is a real revelation though, once I got used to the foccusing I have found it produced superb photos!

The odd time I leave my Olympus u- 5010 behind I "curse", because that is when there is a photo opportunity missed!

I carry a camera anyday anytime. If I have to hide it I will on most occasions take a screwmount Leica in one pocket and the lens in another.
If I'm able to show it that may be a Nikon F with F36 motor.
I just feel sick without a camera and I know I may be a little :)

With me at all times is an Olympus XA loaded with slide film of some sort (presently AgfaPhoto Precisa 100) and an Olympus Stylus Epic loaded with what ever b/w film I've recently decided to over-purchase (presently some TMAX 400). ;)

Since my recent purchase of a Canon S95 (it simply disappears in a trouser pocket), I've been carrying it daily. Takes surprisingly good photos, too. See Steel Diner in the current Gallery.

What is an analog camera analog to?

I will never understand this term, except that I guess it was spawned by some logical fallacy that anything not digital must be analog.

I carry a miniscule Chinon Bellami and alternate it with a Lumix LX5. The Bellami might not have manual controls but it is the most compact film camera in my arsenal.

A while ago I bought an Olympus mju II for this very purpose but it's low light performance (where I hoped to use it the vast majority of the time) is utterly hopeless 75% of the time. I'm currently considering something else, maybe from Ricoh or Contax. I'd like film but a GRD is also appealing…

i dont really have any problems with my mju-II in low light. i either have that with some cheap 400 asa color film or my xa with arista premium 400.

Interesting question (and fun to see that this old thread of mine is still going strong). Analog from Greek "analogos": Similar to or being alike. I take it that the term is coined from the fact that a film camera makes photos that directly resemble the real world, whereas a digital camera only makes 1s and 0s and needs some kind of program and interface to show something that is recognizable.

I waver between a FED-2b & a Yashica 35GT, both loaded with either Tri-X or Fomapan 100. When I'm driving, I just pull over & shoot.

I carry a camera with me every day, there may be an occasional day that I do not but it has been rare the last couple of years.

Sometimes analog, sometimes digital.

My best pocket cameras are Oly muji, Rollie AF35M, Contax Tvs, Rollei S and T, and the recently added Retina lla. (thanks Brian!)

I've always got the camera in my iPhone with me...but I rarely leave the house without a compact pocket digi.
I've got a Canon Powershot SX120IS which has a reasonable amount of manual override as well as being compact enough to fit in my shirt pocket when I'm at work.
If I go out to take photos it's film all the way and I take one digi shot per location just so I've got an EXIF record of date and rough time for when I do my records later.
