Is the finish of the chrome ZI paint ?

Still going back and forth about a ZI or Bessa R2a and at the moment the ZI is winning. Is the finish on the chrome body actually chrome or is it paint? I assume the black is paint ??? How are the finishes on your cameras holding up.

By the way, I took everyones recommendation and purchased both the 35 and the 25Biogons. I absolutely love both! I had a 25 in Rollei 3003 mount in the 80's and loved it and the new ZM is atleast as good or better. The 25 is nothing short of spectacular even wide open. The 35 is as fine a 35mm as I've ever used and exceeds the v4 summicron that I have.

Try to take pictures and you will understand 🙂
What I meant was that paint is not very permanent, its gets washed out easily at heavy duty...

no need for sass, my young friend.
i take lots of photos and use my cameras well.

being more poor than not i also take very good care of all my equipment, be it photographic or audio or transportation.

Okey sorry, maybe I was bit rough, anyhow I am also very poor 🙂 and I am taking care of my ZI as hard as I could, not to mention that I was cleaning it very frequently! (maybe that is the reason) 😀

Unfortunately I don't know of anyone around here and don't think there is a dealer even in Atlanta. I trust you guys that it's a better VF and possibly even over the M's.

I think I've made my mind up, what little is left, to get the chrome ZI. My wife said I have been good this year and I can add a lens. I just bought the 25 and 35 and want to replace my 90 AA summicron with a 85 sonnar but it isn't out yer and I might be able to convince santa to bring one if I don't get in troulbe in the next couple of months. Given the 85 isn't out yet i might ask for the ZI with a 28. I sold my 28 elmarit a couple of years ago because I really didn't think it was all that great and hardly used it. I have a 15 cv, 50 asph summilux and 75 summilux so most of the bases are coveres. I really hate that the ZI doesn't have a 75 frame but a CV finder is cheap enough.

Not a clue what the silver is on my silver ltd edition one - I did manage to put a big scratch across the top, not sure how. It has to work for a living though.

VF on the Ikon is the best I have come across esp. as regards eye relief. You get a bit more info in an M7 finder but if you wear specs forget seeing anything more than the 35mm frame lines. My R3A is worse still. To see the 40mm lines I have to take off not only the Nikon type screw in eyepiece but also remove the plate into which it screws from the back of the camera. Even for non-glasses wearers seeing the 40mm lines with everything in place is a struggle.

Depends on which part, on main body it is milky silver, on film revinder it is shining silver, and on the top of the rewinder it is plasticy silver, I will post pictures on the weekend I promise 🙂
