... suitable for a Yorkshireman?

... and would it play nicely with a f2.8 Summaron and a Rigid Summicron in 'monochrome' mode? ... and have they sorted out the wide angle problems yet? ... I'm thinking of Voigtländer's 12mm may still be asking too much

Any thoughts welcome

M246, having no CFA nor microlenses, should have no problem with short-focus ultrawides. I say this not having used one, so take that as you will.

What focal lengths are the Summaron and Summicron?

I've used a number of lenses on my M-P. Most work well ... Some have had color shifting problems (the short Color Skopars). Most anything I've used 35mm and longer works very well. I understand the Voightlander 15mm works well.

I'm satisfied with the lenses I have now:

Elmar-M 24/3.8 ASPH
Summilux 35/1.4 v2
Nokton 50/1.5 ASPH (LTM)
M-Rokkor 90/4
Hektor-M 135/4.5

These all perform beautifully to my eye, although only the Elmar 24 is a modern lens.

I'd run the idea past Geoff Boycott ... I'm sure he'll have an opinion! LOL :D

I've not heard of any M 240 user (or M9/8 users) having problems using either of those lenses, so I don't see why they would present a problem for the 246. Digital is more demanding than film, so it is possible that if either lens is out of spec, it will front or back focus, but that will be true of any Leica M digital body (unless sensor technology changes radically in the future).

... 35 and 50 respectively

All I can say is that the rigid and the 240 are a match in Valhalla, Stewart. And B+W jpegs can be used right out of the box.

Roland,

I have the same 50 Rigid version one marked only in feet. Works great on my MM9. Thanks for reminding me to get this lens back on loan to a friend.

I just took this ....

I just took this ....

... literally 5 minutes ago. JPEG straight out of the camera (digital yellow filter), leveled to the left by 10%, reduced to 1400 pixel wide. I don't have a Summaron, so I used a 28/3.5 Color Skopar, to answer your wide angle question. B+W is no problem with that lens, for color you have to use Cornerfix. Ignore the dust spots, please, have to clean the sensor soon.

Somewhere down there you can see Google, Ebay, Yahoo, Intel, Apple, etc.

Cheers,

Roland.

I assume from this that Leica AG have finally relocated to Ripon? If so, yes. If not, one must assume they still have work to do.

As to the camera itself. Sorry, I left after the M9...I simply couldn't resist doffing a cap towards Yorkshire, where tea is drunk from a rolled up newspaper, without milk, or sugar...or tea. By men. Real men.*

*Four Yorkshiremen sketch, for any thinking I'm just being rude:D

Ah, hence the interest in a digital Leica :p

I know, I know. Calm everyone, calm. Merely a cheeky (and c̶h̶e̶a̶p̶ value) quip - I had 'em, I loved 'em ... but I just couldn't really afford 'em.
