I love it. Looks great in person. That said, I like all Leica m models...even the hello kitty m6.

D'oh!
Don't worry - there will eventually be an ostrich-clad Hermes edition.

I don't think it is ugly. Also, if Leica made it as beautiful (in my opinion) as the Silver M9-P or M it would be like making a 3 series BMW that is better looking than a 7 series BMW. Bad example, but they did need to find a balance.

well,
I've always liked things that are a little different
or better yet, discounted,
so I bought one of PopFlash's "I don't like the color" M-E bodies
Arrived today, same as new with two year warranty, 80 actuations!
special limited edition "Das Boot" model
Now I can use my Zeiss Sonnar 50mm lenses at native focal length!
The M8, one M5, and bunch of other nice stuff on the auction block to pay for it..
Dark grey is the new black!

Trying to get some new friends, and seeing the poll results so far, I have no opinion (yet).

looks like just another digital M. little chubby vs. film M's, but thats it.
Exactly. Saw it a few days ago first time live in a display window. It was alongside a M9-P and a M6. The new ME-220 didn't stand out.

Is it ugly? No.
Eye of the beholder...I don't like it as much as a black paint MP or M9. Would I want to buy this color? A color that does not grab me like a BP M-anything that would take untold sacrifices to buy?
Probably not. But I can't afford it so it is moot.
Sacrifices with compromises do not interest me. I will, however, sacrifice a lot to get do/get what I like because life is too short not to fully enjoy whatever it is.
Some things, no matter how good or desirable, are just not going to happen anyway, so I am content.

All of the digital M's are ugly. The M3 and its lineal descendants have perfect, "just right" proportions. The digital M's have proportions that are "just wrong." It's like cropping a Picasso on one edge -- a small dimensional change that makes a huge aesthetic difference.
There is some truth to that...similar to the current "sporty" cars like the Mustangs and Camaros. Originals will always be more of a pure aesthethic than the current "fat-ass" designs, but at least they pay homage to the origin of the species...

I'm really gonna make people hate me now but... to me the M3 is ugly. not everything of course, but the frames around the rf/vf window just make it look like an abomination. I like the flatter lines of the younger cameras. the prettiest of them all (to me) is a Leica MP chrome vulcanite m3 rewind/advance with classic engraving.
about the M-E:
I like the color, at least in the daylight when it doesnt look greenish. but since I dont like black colored Ms and the M9 is just steelgrey and the M9P too expensive the M-E with warranty seems like a great thing... hope I can save up to acquire one

I don't care how ugly or what colour spots it's got --- I still can't afford one ---
but I wish I could.

Tekset, sorry if you felt singled out I didn't mean to single out anyone. Ya know, I heard about the green tint too elsewhere. But unless green light is reflecting off the paint, there's not green tint.
