Is the Voigtlander VF 101 any good?

I bought one recently, but I have not yet run film through it. It really is a nice, compact camera. Perhaps tomorrow I'll load some color film and see what I get.

FYI, I'm really getting to think that I have too many cameras. So I may sell the VF101, even if it seems nice (I'm shooting a lot of Medium Format lately).

I just tried to sell mine only because I also have the Zeiss Ikon S312 which is basically the same camera. I've used them both and they are really very nice walk around all day cameras. They were the point and shoot of the early 70's. Aperture preferred auto only with both the aperture and shutter speed shown in the viefinder. They have a large, bright viewfinder with a contrasty round rangefinder patch. The lens is the same on both regardless of the name, a Zeiss 40mm, f2.8 Tessar, as good as anything around from 5.6 down, but not so wonderful opened up. They'rer heavier than you'd expect from the size which is just a little larger than a Rollei 35 and noticeably smaller than a CLE

I would say they are a little smaller that the Oly, but just as heavy.

I have one and would not part with it, results on 400 asa film have been stunning, which is probably to be expected as they were made by Rollie,

The only downside is 4 625 batteries (ok, I know it will work with only 2, but that's supposed to be emergencies only).

Just my opinion, you understand.

I don't know how big the Oly RC is, but the VF101 measures 4"w x 2 11/16"h x 2 1/4"d to the end of the lens.

I've never figured out how to get mine or the S312 to run on two batteries. BTW, the batteriea are the currently available 625's, not the mercury.

I've seen a page where someone took the battery holder off its base to convert it to use a single CR-123 lithium. I can't seem to find the website, but did locate the pic of the battery mod. Looks pretty simple. There's a copy of the pic in my gallery, also.
