Is there a "best of both worlds" 24/25mm lens?

I'm curious - does anyone have any experience with a 24/25mm Leica mount ( M or ltm ) lens that gives good contrast, is reasonably sharp, yet still possesses a more "classic" look than modern lenses? I guess I'm thinking of something that might fit somewhere in between the old "classic" lenses and the newest generation of lenses. Maybe a "best of both world's" lens in this case?

Any thoughts?

True wide angle lenses are a relatively modern concept, so I think that you may struggle to find a good but bad (or visa versa???) lens.

An LTM 25mm Canon perhaps?

Your criteria seems a bit vague? What exactly are you looking for?

The best of both worlds tends to come with the worst of both...

A lens that's sharp while not being wicked sharp, and contrasty without being too contrasty. ( maybe just a bit "creamier" than most modern lenses ). I guess not as 'clinical" ( or sterile? ) as a lot of modern lenses seem to be to my eyes, but not going too far in the other ( romantic? ) direction.

Hope that makes sense.

I had a Canon 25mm in ltm, but didn't like the low contrast, so swapped for a CV 25mm f4 which is much snappier. If you are after that 1950's look the Canon could be an option

What Benjamin said.

It might be easier if you also allow 28mm. There is a range of classic to modern lenses. The Canon 28/2.8 might fit what you are looking for.

I have considered a 28mm, but I already have a 35. While I would eventually like to get a 28mm, I figured that my next lens should probably be a little wider in focal length from the 35.
