Is there a good tear down guide for an electro 35 GTN?

I was pondering this on taking the 4k apart.

Years back doing the usually ebay surfing you do when bored and I found a very very very beaten up Electro 35 that had been living in a garage for years, no bids and up for a £1 so I thought it was worth a punt as I'd heard people raving about them and a quid isn't a big loss.
It arrived and despite it looking like a cadidate from Will it blend it acctually worked, optics were good and finder appeared to be accurate, I put it on display rather than use it as a regular shooter as I'd planned to fix it up first but other things got in the way and on the shelf it stayed.

I picked it up the otherday as I was checking over my kit and it still powers up and meters but the shutter is sticky (could be voltage drop though as battery has never been changed) filter ring is a bit chewed up and theres a 5 pence sized dent by the test light (I'll try and photograph it when I sort out how to put photos on here) but given I'm not going anywhere soon I would like to try and fix it.
I need to figure out how to dismantle it enough to try and reshape the filter ring and top panel (I fettle with cars so should manage it) and service its moving parts.

Is there a guide avalible?

There is a website called The Yashica Guy, and he sells (or still sells) battery adapters that would help fit 1.5 V batteries into the camera. Check it out by clicking on the link above! 🙂

Thanks, I might have a crack at making something to do the adaption or a test bed atleast as theres no rush as I'm housebound at the moment.

Round 2 of pics, it also wierdly started fireing normally after playing about with it again so could be just deoxidisation on the contacts and lubrication needed service wise.
Need to track down some of those tiny screws too.

Your camera looks in rough shape, but if the internals are working it's worth improving the externals with some polish and paint. You might even be able to work out the dent in the top cover plate after you take the plate off. The only thing I'd worry about is the damaged filter ring. As dented as it is, it could make it difficult to get the lens apart to clean the shutter. Thanks, I was having a word with my Dad about it as he's an engineer, it may move but theres a possibility the metal will crack as its not 100% certainty of what it is, I could in theory get it a little way and skim fill it like I do with car Bodywork.

The filter ring may be possible to get useable (I've got a 50mm Zuiko with a similar affliction I need to fix aswell) but I know it won't be 100% round again although really I need to get it seperate before I do anything to avoid damage to the lens.

Paint unless done brush on style isn't going to be doable for a while as I don't have an indoor area to spray and this time of year theres too much airbourne moisture to get a good adhesion outside, I'm curious though what it will look like as bare metal as it'll never be mint anyway so a custom look won't hurt.

As I recall, the metal under the paint is brass, but don't quote me on that... 🙂
