There seems to be a promotion on now, ending the end of the month, offering an M (262) + 50/2.4 + flash + bag for $5995. This might be as close as I would get to owning a digital M. I contacted B&H to ask if they would substitute an extra battery and a diopter for the flash. They agreed.

Any opinions as to if this is the deal of the century?

I would say so. No live view which is nice for wide lenses. Do it have connection for visoflex? I dislike it, but plenty must disagree with me.

Flash and Lens are also listed at the same site as separate items with individual price.
Package price, minus lens price, minus flash price, compared to M (262) listed at the same site price will only tell you if it is the DoC.

I did many moons ago...three M262 bundles have been advertised for quite a number of months, not only in the US but also in Europe: it's a good deal.

It's a great deal if you want the M262 and that specific lens or if you just want any digital M and any Leica lens and aren't picky. However, if this is not the M you really want and the lens you really want, Leica-itis tends to make you buy what you really want eventually. ;)

Update: I finally bit after eight months! I would say that is long enough to consider it. I also received some concessions from the seller, substituting some items for one in the bundle I would never use. As to above comments as to whether I would be satisfied with the bare bones version — yes. I have a D810 with great video capabilities (I guess) which I will never explore.

Just waiting till the arrival on Friday!

Congratulations.

I suspect the 50/2.4 is a good performer. Its really nice and small.
