I'm broke and recently unemployed. I walked into the camera shop yesterday. In the case was a mint 4x5 Speed Graphic. I looked like one of the last of the side mounted rangefinders. Graflok back, RF nice and bright, lens clean, shutter nice and snappy. $123. I want it bad. I'm thinking about going back and trying to trade for my Nikkor SC 1.4. I've never shot LF. I have no 4x5 enlarger. I have no 4x5 scanner. Please, someone talk me out of this.

Buy it and sell something else here on the classifieds. I'm unemployed too but still I somehow managed to buy three (3) cameras this weekend...

Errrrrm, think of the costs of the film, and you might want new(-er) DDS's too. Development will also be very different to roll-type film . . . errrrm, oh and will you really be happy with contact prints ?
Was that enough persuasion yet ?

Selling the Nikkor 50/1.4 SC will get you more than $123 easily.
If you would put that lens up here for $123, it would be sold before you finished typing the ad.

A Nikkor-SC 5cm F1.4 in LTM goes for better than $300 these days. Of course a lot depends on condition. Maybe 10 years ago, closer to $123. Mine was $95. In S-Mount, probably between $150 and $200.
The 4x5 is going to cost more for film, and that should be considered in your present situation.
SO- It is a bad trade.

Thanks for talking me down everyone. Irrational GAS attack averted. A baby speed with a rollfilm back would get much more use. I'll start saing my pennies.
