From my first roll on the Canon P. Everything 1/500 and under came out nice, everything at 1/1000 looked like this. Capping? Or something else? The P is super clean but probably hasn't been used in ages.

Well, yes, I know. But everything else is working perfectly, and I'm a DIY kind of guy. I am hoping somebody knows how to make this adjustment without losing three months and 200 bucks!

What causes shutter bounce is the shutter brake is not properly braking the curtain. If you do not adjust it to the proper friction the second curtain will fail to properly close.

The cause is usually dirt build-up in the brake mechanism which has to be disassembled and cleaned which means a partial tear down of the camera.

Since you are getting shutter bounce it stands to reason the camera needs a CLA even though it is still working.

Actually the guy who did my Robot is about two hours away, and only took a week, and only charged $100. I'd thought of him as the Robot Guy, but I'm sure he'd work on a P, too.

I'll shoot a couple more rolls at 500 or less, then reluctantly part with it...

Thanks!
