Hi

Will somebody help me determine is this lense is modified or not?

I have a lovely FM2 to use it with, if lens is not modified is it safe to mount it to FM2?

Thanks very much guys.
Peter.

So, I received a lens, I tried to mount it, but I did't release the shutter as I know back part of the lens wil hit mirror.

So the question now is - if I remove top part of the lens back, will it be enough to use lens on FM2, I don't mind using handheld light meter.

looks like a pre 1967 50 f2, whats the serial number. Maybe kit 3 ai ring will do the trick if you can get one. be carefull mounting on camera as back of ring is prob' hitting body ai tab

My 11months old baby is just napping so I dont want to make noise taking the camera out, but I can tell you that I need to set f16 on the lens and then mount it, rabbit ears are going through tab slighty rubbing on it, and then I can only open it to f2.8 without touching the tab again...

So I'm thinking now, that I just get rid of the ears to mount it easier.

The ears are not the problem - the rim of the aperture ring sits on the AI aperture coupler tab, and will bend and eventually destroy it!

the problem is that you run the risk of breaking or damaging the tab on the body. Also the meter is not going to work because the lens aperture position is not linked up to the camera. You can modify the ring yourself by filing the aperture ring down at the correct place.

Thanks very much, I have seen it before, and according to it, my lens cannot be modified to AI but, I'm asking how to modify it to safely mount it on camera.

Like I've said before, I don't mind if meter doesn't work, I only want camera to stop down aperture during shutter release.

Thanks.
