It might be. The only way to know is to buy it, open it up, and see what you have. On a Canon lens, the oil seeped in through the aperture mechanism from the focus mount. It evaporates and settles on the lens, or worse flows into the Canada Balsam. Very worst- it eats the coating and etches the glass. I've seen it do all of the above.
