Is this what's we've come to? Cheap 5cm f1.1 lenses?

The most expensive lens I've ever purchased cost me $400. These are not cheap. But the OP can bloo-hoo-hoo all he wants about them coming down in price.

How awful it must be to think that a mere commoner might come to own one.

I have never seen a cheap f1.1 lens for the Nikon rangefinder cameras.
It's interesting to see that there are a few not-quite-as-staggeringly-expensive-as-before ones around, though.

I'm quite happy with my little 1.4, thanks.

Cheers,
Dez

The only cheap 1.1 lens I've seen is that new M mount one by 7Guys in the new 1.1 thread.
$380 shipped.

Ebay 162556211890, June 23, $2967

The second one came with a camera!

I was going to snipe it at the end but missed the end!
It went cheap!

I sold mine a few months ago, I got $3700 with both caps.
I was happy.
Prices can go up and down. it may be months before another listed.

It IS what we've come to: I have a nice clean user Leica IIIG for sale here at $327. $327!!!!! And no takers. May as well use it....

oh, please drop to around $900 so I can have one for my Nikon Repair blog :eek::eek: i am not picky so long as there is nothing serious. miracles do happen.

You need to find one with a messed-up iris, they can go bad easily.
I've seen them sell as low as $600 like that.

If the iris blades go bad, as they all do(sooner or later), it's a $1200 repair job.

Some things are better left on the shelf.

Wow! Who is charging that much? I recently got a 5cm F1.1 overhauled (including three new aperture blades) by Kiitos for 30,000 yen. They have replacement aperture blades but they are not for sale as parts only. You have to request a full lens overhaul.

You and Kiitos make me sick! I need to move to Japan.
:)

Sorry, I exaggerated a bit, I thought too high(senior moment!), it's $900.00
It's $1200 if the front group needs re-cementing.

Over here in USA, there are only a couple of places that do such work. One used to be bald mountain Photo who is no longer doing repairs.

I would not trust any repairman with 1.1 either.

Now back to Vick's remarks.

The prices are relatively cheaper on ebay/Yahoo Japan than famous auction houses, this example just sold at Westlicht:

319. Nikon 1.1/5cm Nikkor-N
early, rare and extremely fast lens for Nikon rang...

Condition: B/A

Year: 1959

Serial No.: 140949

Hammer price (Incl. buyer's premium)
€ 3.840
Estimate
€ 4000-4500

It's interesting that the estimate was more like what Vick was thinking, but the actual hammer price was not even €4000
The only way one of these sells for more than $5000 is when it's screw-mount. I have seen some list on ebay for $4-$5k, no one buys them. They keep being relisted.

I got mine out of ebay for $2500 about 15 years ago, raid did a test with it awhile back.

Normally they get mangled because users turn the aperture too fast, the picture shows them to be somewhat robust, they are not! Made of very thin material, they are long and move in very intricate motion. Once they get mangled, they can easily bend/break.

I suggested to the new buyer they should use it in very gentle manner, not turn the ring too fast.

On the other side of the coin, the Leica version sells for about $5-$6k in the used market, the Nikkor-N is a bargain at $3000
Only 3000 or so were ever made(all mounts).
