I'm looking at an Iskra 2, in excellent condition, and in the photos, the engraving on the top plate is not Cyrillic, but English. Were there some versions made for export with the name engraved in English alphabet? I seem to recall reading this somewhere.

Also, on the back of the top plate, in addition to the Arsenal (?) logo and the serial number, are the words, in English "Made in USSR." Would this indicate an export version?
TIA, again....

The photo of the Iskra 2 in Princelle shows the name on the top plate in English, so at least some, if not all, of those were indeed like the one you describe.

My three Iskra 2's have no English lettering. I think you're correct about export models having English lettering. Curious, what is the serial number on the one you are looking at? One of mine is #6301046.

I've since discovered that some were made for sale in East Germany, and elsewehre presumably, where English script was used, since most Germans did not read Russian, or did not WANT to read Russian!
The ser# is 6402xxx.
I'll post some pics after it comes.
Thanks for the info.
