You’ve worked hard this week and it’s Friday any time to put your feet up with a glass of wine ( or favorite brew ) and post those fun pix. Get crazy and post those images you shot to keep your creativity alive.

I love taking a simple point and shoot with me and just shoot anything I see that flips the switch.

These date back twenty years and mark an era where I needed some creative relief from my normal commercial work.

Let’s see your fun and crazy stuff.

To keep my creativity alive I go after the light, in this case simply at home. Sometimes not much light, sometimes much...

This could also be "Girls just want to have fun" because she did with me. Winter Park, Florida - I was supposed to be photographing this historic 90 year old home but walked outside for a break, tripod mounted Bronica SQ-A in hand. I spied this goth girl with purple hair wandering around with some guy. Turns out they came early for a wedding there. I had a digital with one lens in my bag so asked if I could photograph them. After a few quick shots, I asked him if he would be so gracious to step aside so I could photograph her. Actually, that was my objective all along. He just wandered away.

I began to photograph her while stumbling on poses as that is not my norm. Finally, she asks if she can make a suggestion. She then proceeds to give me about 20 different looks waiting for me to photographically exhaust each one before she moves on to the next. All I could do was shoot. When she finished, I just said "obviously, you have done this before". She nicely replied "yes" but added no information. I realized that when I had introduced myself before, her only response was to graciously thank me but provided no information about herself. I offered to send her a file of my photos along with a release. Her response was a kind "Thanks, but no". I still have no idea who she was. She is just in my files as "purple haired girl"

I saw various versions of these open bar/eatery dungaree/denim ashtrays in Bangkok. Not sure if there is any meaning attached.

I took this one a couple of weeks ago when I went for my usual Saturday morning walk. I don't carry a camera with me unless I decide to go for pictures but I have my mobile phone.

Right now I am on holidays in Poland and enjoy my coffee in the garden. Opposite me are some yellow pots and a red chair.

I was hoping we could talk creativity and forget about f stops, cameras and lenses.
I like seeing the technical details, at least on the B&W photos. I'm still working to improve my B&W work and all those little details are very helpful.
Fast f2 lens vs. slow f5.6 zoom? ASA 100 vs. ASA 3200 film? Rodinal vs. D76? Etc, etc.

The creativity here as always is top notch!

There are plenty of other threads jammed packed with both good and bad information. For a change I’d like to see emphasis placed on the impact of the final image and the creative process rather than technical specs.

you and I can go out and setup our cameras side by side and I can give you the exact exposure, a roll of film the same as I’m using, take you to my darkroom and develope in the same developer at the same time and print on the same enlarger and we’ll produce totally different results. I know this from 54 years as a professional and having taught many students.

Information floating around in both print and the internet can be good and can often be bad. I’d rather not promote technical data as to possibly promote bad information. There are certainly some good photographers on this forum that have a good grasp on technique and there are others that display horrible technique with pride.

Let’s stay away from how it was done on this thread.
Thanks!
Don

I have misread your original post. I focused more on the "fun" part of it. Moderators can delete my post.
We all love finding a bargain but the end result, at least I hope, is great photographs and a creative outlet. I hope that’s what all of us want.

No harm and hope you make some excellent images with those lenses. It’s been a while since finding a bargain. The last was a very nice Rolleiflex 3.5f Planar for $75. I had to have a cla but for the price it was well worth it and now I have a mint 3.5f.

Enjoy those lenses!

For a long time it was difficult for me to go out with a point and shoot. I’m so used to having full control that I struggled to let go. I’m a recovering photographer now and able to go out with a full auto P&S, not POS, and just engage my subject and accept what I get. It’s rather relaxing.

Then you can stay off my threads with your complaints about people posting technical data.
I don’t think I ever complained about anyone posting technical data on your threads. Matter of fact I’m not sure I ever posted on one of yours.

Please don’t take it personal. I’d just like to see more creative discussions.

Edit: I don’t own this thread or forum so if you feel you’d like to post your technical data go ahead. It’s fine and hope you aren’t offended.
