My conversion to the darkside is complete.
A member here was selling a chrome M6 last month, but I couldn't afford it. And I decided I'd rather have a black one.
Then I spotted a UK dealer with one they were more than ready to stand by for GBP600 - not cheap in global terms, but definitely low for a UK dealer. 10 day approval, and with a warranty. Seems funcationally good (except for the issue I'll ask advice on below) and cosmetics aren't bad at all - the occasional scratch and some brassing to the top plate, but generally good.
So now I have dispopsed quickly of a bunch of surplus gear (and been paid for my first ever commsion - w00t!), my M2 has been joined by a new black sister. The Bessa was included in the surplus gear, so I am now an M-boy through and through. It feels good.
Quick ask for advice: I have until the end of the week to send it back NQA, and I might have an issue with the framelines. Looking through the finder, the left half of the frames is good, the right half is dim. If I move my eye off-centre to the left, the rest of the framelines brighten up beautifully but I can no longer see the formerly bright half (obviously - I'm half way out of the viewfinder by now).
Any ideas? It's still very shootable...
It was 1991-made, and the shutter sounds bang on. Test rolls back today to check that, and the rangefinder, but I'll be very surprised if there's anything needing sorted there just yet.
A keeper?
