Every so often, I read on here how some of you stumble into such and such great findings (most recent being amateriat's "last crusade"). Well, today I lucked into a bit of a finding of my own 🙂
I went over to a friend's house this evening to help him clean the sensor on his DSLR and hang out for a bit. Photography's always been in his family and his parents had been running a camera and print store up until very recently when he was forced to close down shop (he couldn't compete with the big corporations anymore). Anyways, he had mentioned his dad left a bunch of the stuff he couldn't sell at his place and I was more than welcome to have a look through it in case I was interested in anything. When I last talked to him about it, he just said there was a bunch of old film camera stuff, some filters, etc... So I figured it wouldn't have been much more than a bunch of old SLRs and lenses and accessories left behind from consignment that never got sold and went unclaimed. At the very least, I was hoping to get some left over film for free 😀
When I got there, there was about a dozen boxes in his closet. Yes there was a box full of filters and accessories (two boxes, actually) as well as a couple full of old SLR stuff. As I kept digging, the things in the boxes just got better and better. For every "neat" thing I came across, I was telling him how much it was worth and how much I might be able to get for it for him, so I offered to help sell it for him. Obviously his dad knew what these were worth, but it seemed like he really didn't have the drive to try selling these, certainly not online, so with his permission, I hauled the boxes back home, to which I'll start cataloging and trying to sell them off for him.

This was neat from a collector's standpoint, but in all honesty, I didn't get too excited about it. Maybe it's because I already have a 500c/m that I can use 🙂
THIS, however, did get me excited!
I believe this brand is popular here?
Don't like SLRs? How about these?
As an added incentive, he even offered to let me keep something I may be interested in (possibly one of the M6's or the Xpan) even after I told him the value of them, but to be honest, I don't know if I could take such a lavish offering. But we'll see!
And to think, he said all the point and shoot cameras sold instantly when he was selling off everything! Hahaha!
Anyways, keep an eye on the marketplace in the next week or so. 😉
