Items I could never sell

Replying to Roger Hicks thread about classic bags I offered my sentiments to my Billingham bag that I have owned for 25+ years.
This made me think about items I have that I could never sell or be without:-

Schneider 25mm f/0'95 c-mount lens
Zeiss Contax N24-85mm Conurus converted
Zeiss Contax 35mm F1.4
Konica Hexar AF black and OEM half case
Minolta Multi Pro Scanner
My beautiful Rollei 6002 which I bought new.

What about you guys?

There is NOTHING I bought that I would never sell (if I was not using it and needed the money). I do have some things that were given to me and I can't sell them for various sentimental reasons.

I'm not at all sentimental about camera gear. I'd sell any of it.

I could sell it all if I wanted to. I don't hold any great sentiment to any of the gear I own. I like my Norita and I would need a pretty good reason to sell it, but I could and I probably wouldn't miss it as long as it is replaced by something that does the same thing or does it better.

I'm not at all sentimental about camera gear. I'd sell any of it.

Pretty much the same with me at this point - my cameras are tools to enable my art. That could change with a little more disposable income though.

I decided to go the cheaper route; bought a Manfrotto/Bogen 709B. For <$40, you can't argue. I don't see the Leica version being $250+ better. 😉

As for gear I can't part with... Hmm.

My Canon A-1. First camera I ever bought for myself, circa 82-83. Then there's my dad's Voigtländer Dyna Matic II and Minox. My M8 is somewhat special as it was a birthday gift from my mom before she passed (a couple of weeks later). It was also owned by a certain someone we all know. But still - I did upgrade to an M9, so in spirit it's still there. 'Dunno. I think that's about it for sentimental stuff.

Everything else can easily be replaced; though not cheaply! I'm a wise shopper so I bought them for quite reasonable prices and replacing everything today would require a second mortgage!

Not always, and (for the more interesting stuff) very rarely affordably. Also, distance lends enchantment: would I really use another 58/1.4 Nikkor or 150/6.3 Tessar?

Another important point is that quite a lot of the kit I own is worth so little that I'd rather keep it than sell it (and above all, rather than have the hassle of selling it). What's a 120/6,8 Angulon worth, after all? Or a 300/3,5 Tessar? (All for large format).

But, I hasten to add the photos taken of our lives together, kids, family and also those things that have been with us for 40 years of marriage and bring back quite a few memories. Then there are are a few small heirlooms from my parents. That's about it. Cannot really think of anything else that I would keep until the bitter end...

I sold my Nikon 9000 to acquire this scanner! Frailty is replacement bulbs - I have two!

OK this is Sentiment

In short (aside the Rollei) I really do not believe that I could replace/improve the above items which is my point.

It is difficult to find a "like new" M3 with the three 2.0 lenses. To me, the M3 and its lenses made Leica what it is today.

That's a tough question, not that there isn't anything I could not get rid of but what is it that I couldn't...
I own four cameras that I bought brand new...the rest I have no idea how many owners they've had...all could be replaced...
Maybe my first camera for sentimental reasons and then the Yashica Mat 124 mainly because of it's near mint condition and last would be the Zone VI 4x5 view camera kit because it would be a financial burden to replace that whole set up...

Oh yeah, I'm keeping the Weston Master II meter...
