I'm thinking about jumping from lab development to the home development ... these kind of threads are dangerous ....

Make the jump. Nothing like the smell of a stop bath in the morning. It's a rush.

nico, I'm about to embark on developing my first roll in years.

You do not need a teacher. Get some D76 or Ilfosol S, Stopbath and Fixer, a tank and some rolls of film like HP 5 or TriX. Then shoot some rolls and to develop them following the Ilford guides.
After a few rolls you will ask yourself why you paid labs at all....
Have fun

There's nothing like those big, multi-roll developing tanks.
How else can one ruin so many rolls all at once?
I hope the "soup" comes out good...

12 rolls at once! I hardly get to more than 3 before I simply "need" to develop them! Sometimes it's just one roll in my little single tank. Hmmm, I think I have three waiting right now....

I've never ruined a roll with chemicals. I've ruined rolls by loading them badly.... but that stopped once I got the Hewes reels.

it's just one of the adorable quirks that people love about me...
i'm happy getting the image on film, when i get to see that image is less important to me. the key is to shoot and less so to process.
i can always throw some chemicals in a tank but the shot can only be taken once.

maybe it's new to me that's why i am so excited about it. And i don't have a backlog from the eighties to develop

Just one of the many things that change once you get older, Pherdinand!
I just finished developing 3 rolls of 120 B+W in Rodinol, taken with my Rolleiflex yesterday. Shots of my kids and shots of a neighbour's child, destined to become Christmas presents for their respective moms.
