Want an M3 or M2 in Atlanta? Can't get them any more for $600-$700. BGN is now $900 and Ex is almost $1500 at KEH.

M6 bodies from $1400 BGN to $2200 and more!

Tried finding one at another local shop and they are getting those prices when they put them up for sale and they are gone within hours. He is stunned! I am stunned! Lenses are the same way...they go in no time at all.

Yeah I agree... I got my M6 not 3 months ago and those prices are what I saw then.

Didn't get mine from KEH though :p found a good deal on the 'bay.

We're into stratosphere prices on Leica gears these days. Go figure. Similar to the stock market, where people buy on emotion and little, if any, objectivity. For example, sellers Ive talked with want $2600+ for 35mm Cron ASPHs that cost $2995 brand new! I used to buy these for $1300-1400 (used of course) not long ago. So they have appreciated 100% in the past year? Don't think so.

Reminds me of petroleum and gold. First sight of an American aircraft carrier and prices shoot through the roof.

Tough break for those looking to pick up their first Leica. It won't help when we keep on reminding them how cheap there were in the good ol' days.

Had this confirmed when I sold a lens recently for twice what I bought it for. I was delighted, but then remembered that I'm still in the market for a 50mm.

And that's the catch 22!

"Whoopee ... my M3 is worth twice what I paid for it ... but of course if I sell it I won't have an M3 anymore and I won't be cool."

:D

I paid several hundred more than I thought I would have to pay for my first M3 and for my first two M lenses, all purchases made within the past 10 days. Prices for Leica items on Ebay and other sources like KEH right now are half again as much to double the ranges listed on the antiquecameras.com site.

efirmage, since I suspect it was your 90mm Tele-Elmarit I just bought, I'm pleased that you were delighted with the price. :) I can't wait to try it out, and if I ever decide to sell, I hope I can get double the price too.

I recently paid $S 3,000 (US$ 2,380) for a mint, boxed (used once) M6 TTL Ti. I thought I had paid on the high side, but it sounds not. I guess a declining USD may shift US domestic prices upwards over time.

You'd still be cool without your M3 and a bit richer. ;)

How high can prices go? We'll know things are insane when the second hand stuff is priced higher than new and new has a 12 month waiting list.

Can they make lenses in their Portugal factory?

Wow! I just bought a Leica M2 ('62 and B+), and I paid 3000 sek (460 USD). I guess the swedish market is a good market for Leica users. :)

I bought a M3 DS from Tamarkin for $695 just last week. They are still out there for cheaper, but you have to try harder.

Good thing I wasn't one of those trenders who sold their film gear to get on the digital-is-the-silver-bullet bandwagon. The film Leicas I would sell would only be to fund/replace a different Leica film camera.

I bought my M2 when they peaked right before the release of the M8; prices sunk. Now I could sell at a profit. Could. Who says I will?

Excellent, Smithers.

so, dave, are you saying i can't pick up a good m-mount summicron 35 at keh this weekend for $400? :) :) :)

Sigh...:(

Indeed, their inventory is the lowest I have seen. Add to that the so-called special editions skew their prices out of sight. No one in Atlanta seems to have either M bodies, M lenses or even screwmount lenses.
