It's true ... The RD-1 is the 'coolest' digital camera ever made!

But Keith...didn't you read the M10 is coming...:)

Patrick, the fact your girlfriend bought an R-D1, nay...the fact she shoots RF in general...means she's a keeper!

You have your name down for the M10 of course .... life with one kidney isn't too bad they tell me! :D

One thing that has been a huge bonus with the Epson's 1.5 crop is the use I've now found for my 50mm C Sonnar. That lens has become the sweetest f1.5 75mm portrait lens with the Sonnar look that you could ever imagine. And a lot cheaper than a 75mm Summilux I might add!

the rd1 is cool, no doubt in my mind...but i think the competition they are up against is getting too strong...for as many as people buy there seems to be at least an equal number of them for sale...and not too many 'sold' sings going up after the sale is posted.
i think the new fuji is really slowing the rd1 down...it has it's own cool factor, plus built for lenses and af...sure, it's not a rangefinder but it's close enough for many.

Who are you trying to convince ..... me or you? :D

As for sales of the RD-1 I think it's more hindered by it's age than it's competition ... what am I saying? It has no competetion! :D

not trying to convince anyone of anything...just stating an observation.

i'm sticking with the rd1 for as long as i can...

I think that should be your new tattoo .... RD-1 FOR LIFE with maybe those words curved around the top of the analog dial? :)

Nothing has caught up with the RD1 as a DRF yet, the rendering is way up there and IMO it give more character to whatever character the M lenses has.

The Sonnar lens does not "become" a 75mm lens.

It is still a 50mm lens. The image still looks like a 50mm image, albeit one where you have cropped the face out of the center of the image to make a portrait.

It really seems like a lost opportunity for someone not to update the RD-1 with a newer, larger sensor and a newer processor. It's as if so much of the R&D has already been done.

Maybe not but it gives me a 75mm perspective when I'm shooting ... I think you're splitting hairs here. I understand exactly what the camera's sensor is doing to the 50mm's image circle ... thanks!

Technically you are right.... but the "angle of view" changes to 75mm...
My MS 28mm Triplet becomes a "Pancake" 42mm.....
