Sorry to hear about it. Take care of yourself and get better. Don't rush it. Your immune system can be compromised by this infection and, with the flu going around right now, you could come down with an even more serious condition. Be very careful.

Well wishes for a rapid recovery. As others mentioned, rest – rest and rest some more. Did the doctors recommend staying well-hydrated and keeping your chest vertical as much as possible?
Respiratory infections are the worst. Antibiotics can have unpleasant side effects. I hope you tolerate them well.
My mother-in-law was vey susceptible as well. She lived to 92.

Bummer. But you know the drill: take your meds and do NOT wear yourself out doing unnecessary things.

Take care, Chris, and heal up.
I had bacterial pneumonia in January, following my trip and a simple cold ... Nearly killed me, I lost just about the whole month. I was coughing so hard I sprained all the muscles in my abdomen's left side ... after that I saw stars every time I had to cough. Which of course you have to do constantly to clear the lungs! Heavy ABs and two cough suppressants/muscle relaxers finally killed that nasty.
I hope your infection passes more quickly and with less pain.

what?
Take those meds. I cut mine short because I was feeling better. Bad idea. Do what the doctor's tell you.

Thanks, everyone. I am beginning to improve some. The third round of antibiotics are working. The second antibiotic I took was only for two days because it began making me really sick, vomiting constantly! First time i had ever had a bad reaction to an antibiotic.
The one I am on now isn't making me sick and my infection seems to be getting better. I have to take them for seven more days.

Allergic reactions to antibiotics can be bad. I ended up in the ER when I was given Cipro 20 years ago. Hope your progress continues unabated!

The antibiotic that made me sick was Levofloxacin, which is from the same class of antibiotics as Cipro. I just had vomiting, but some of the possible side effects are really scary things like breakdown of tendons! Thankfully, I only took it for 2 days.

Yes, I know it well. It was actually Levaquin that made me ill. And I ruptured a tendon in my foot about 10 years later while playing basketball with my son. It may have been an after-effect of the Levaquin, or I may have been too damned old to be playing basketball!
