I've Done A Stupid Thing....!

I'm thinking also that anyone who picked it up would see that there's nothing of intrinsic value to them -- no equipment -- and leave it be.

Keep us posted.

I once did the exact same thing in Barcelona....

I glad that you got your backpack back safely Floyd, being Barcelona, I would have written it off (one of my favorite cities nonetheless), especially considering what was inside!

Still no news on my case from the lost property people. I'm resigned to having lost my negs forever as I would have thought that if they had found the case they would have contacted me by now...?

I guess that there is an outside chance that the case will still turn up but I suspect that the case has been 'taken' by someone and that my negs are by now lying in the street or a rubbish bin somewhere in south east London....:bang:

(I wish that I hadn't looked at my contact sheets now as I keep thinking of some of the shots which were definite 'keepers'....:()

I've Got My Negs Back!

I've Got My Negs Back!

UPDATE:

Well, after contacting three different lost property companies (one each for the different train operators and one for the station owners) I have finally got my case back with the negs all intacted. I'm very pleased that I have got the negatives back - precious memories... :D

Unfortunately I can't scan them immediately as my laptop decided to die on me last Sunday night. Hopefully it's fixable and I can update this thread with a few 'recovered' images from Italy...

Anyway, this is still very good news....! :):):):)

Despite what we see & hear in the news there are still honest people around.

Happy one of them found your case!

This info kind of gives me a positive recharge on humanity.

Happy and reassuring to hear. I too have had tremendous luck retrieving lost photo stuff (and saddly I seem to need it on a regular basis). Got a D-Lux 4 mailed back from London left in a taxi, and a Yashicamat sent back from Rome, also left in a taxi. The ice cream shop in Cortona Italy recognized me from my driver's licence picture and returned the wallet I'd left there the previous week (had given up looking). People are often nicer and more helfpful than you might expect! It's important to remember this in the constant barrage of news about everyone's shortcomings. Now, if I can just start holding on to my things everything will be fine...

Suggest to tie a string around your finger! As a reminder!

Ha!

In a hurry to catch a flight a few years ago, I thought I had set my briefcase down and, worried, I re-traced my steps, couldn't find it. Then, for some reason, I looked down. I was carrying it!

Curly said, "I tried thinkin' once and nothin'happened." Sometimes thats me!

I once lost my iPad on an amtrak train from DC to somewhere in CT, they contacted me in a week and I got my iPad back safe and sound, without a scratch.

I am sure you will be able to get your case back!

There's much more good in the world than we think.

Good to hear it is resolved well. I've done similar and worse things. Some didn't get resolved to my benefit, but it is a delight when they do.
