So I'm stopping in Japan for a week on my way to Taiwan. Just curious, given all the experts here, what strange/interesting/rare/fun Japanese-market photo toys I should keep an eye out for: rare RF lenses, unusual cameras, etc.

I don't *need* anything specific, naturally, so it's really just an open-ended question...

The Fuji Natura line of P&S cameras are very hard to find here in the U.S.. They look quite beautiful and I've read that they have great lenses. I believe there are a couple of zoom models and a couple of fixed wide-angle lens models.

Congrets on your upcomming exhibition at Elite Book Forum in Taipei.

City of Torrance near you, in CA. , inside the Mitsuwa Market is a Sanseido Book Store, where you can buy a copy of either Nippon or Asahi Photo Journal, and find in it lots of info you need. In Shinjuku, Tokyo alone, you can spend 7 days visiting camera stores.
Fuji advertise Klasse W for Y$95,000, pricy, but interesting in this digital era. I have the XTi, I'll buy the Xsi, or the Zuiko 12-60mm 2.8-4., Or the 21mm 3.2 Pentax, if I can get a good price from Map Camera in Shinjuku.
Hope Canon has an answer to D700, a 6D, w 500g body weight, minus 140mm wide, street price $1,000 by the time you arrived in Narida or Kansei Airport.

YOKOGI Arao has a new photo book, "Snapshot", I like his stuff a lot. You can find it in the newly remodeled Map or Kinokunia, Asahiya or Sanseido in Tokyo.
Have a good trip.

Hi Jonas,
I hope you enjoy your time in Japan. If you are in Tokyo then there are a few things to see...

The Tokyo Metropolitan Museum of Photography in Ebisu may have an interesting exhibition. You can check it at http://www.syabi.com

The used market is also interesting. Most people would recommend Map Camera in Shinjuku. I am sure you can navigate their Japanese web site at http://www.mapcamera.com/

The showrooms for each maker give you a chance to play with any/all combination of body and lens. Canon and Leica showrooms are in Ginza for example.

Try the big discount camera shops for film, and accessories that you might not have in your home area. I guess they also have mounting and frame related accessories.

Are you planning a show in Japan? If your looking for something specific, let us know.

if you can find any konica hexar rf eyepieces and/or diopters, i'm sure you'd find eager customers in the states. :D

Thanks for the responses. I suppose I should have mentioned that I'm going to be in the Osaka/Kyoto area and won't even make it to Tokyo this time.

Good idea to flip through some Japanese photo magazines and see what's in there.

shimokita: I wish I was having a show in Japan. I just need to find someone who'll show it....
