Jeff Ascough under NDA for new Rangefinder

well.. depends on what's in the NDA.. maybe he's allowed to let some info slip to build up hype while other info HAS to remain confidential.

edit: maaaannn this thread is alive 🙂 I was too slow ^

Come on, folks! It's nothing but a new external range finder that Cosina is making, together with its zoom multi-finder and double shoe adapter, attached to a Micro 4/3 camera, you've got a rangefinder!

Keep your crappy heathen M43 thoughts to yourself ... we have a new hypothetical digital full frame dream rangefinder camera to ponder !!

I don't understand why anyone would think it was a Fuji. I think they exited the 35mm rangefinder market in the 1960s and the number of interchangeable-lens 35mm rangefinders produced by Fuji totals ... um ... zero.

And along with Mamiya they kept MF rangefinders alive from the 1960's till today.....

Fuji has the skills to produce the sensors for a nice rangefinder, it cooperated with Cosina on the Fuji 667/Bessa III.

For me it is the most likely company to be involved.
Next Zeiss + Cosina again. The Zeiss Ikon RF has always been a stop gap camera.

Not mentioned here so far is Samsung. The NX10 body could have had an M mount without changing the dimensions of the camera. Ebough measurements testify that. I already wrote that either it has an agreement with for example Cosina for an M-mount version (add a rangefinder then) or it can face Chinese customised MX-10's soon.

It would really be a surprise if Cosina isn't involved.

The only contradiction must be the "standard lens" 35mm 1.2 and FF. I think the last isn't FF 35mm.
There is a Zeiss Cinema 35mm (halfframe) lens 35mm 1.2, Schneider most likely has one too.

OK, I have to ask, since this April Fool's thing will not go away. What would be the point of a "joke" like this? Most people aren't especially invested in rangefinders except for this board, and the Leica user board...this guy isn't a member of this community...and he has a highly successful business to maintain, not to mention professional ties to a major camera manufacturer.

Non-losers do not perpetrate internet hoaxes. It would just be stupid. It would be the most obscure imaginable joke, and if you got suckered in, well, so what, because there are half a dozen other great small cameras on the market right now, so who cares.

Right?

Even if it is a joke, it's not particularly funny. And I don't mean because people are getting worked up. Fake product rumors are lame; not creative at all and pointless.

Nobody's getting worked up over this ... we're just having a little fun (Spaß).

If this is true, however, I sure hope it has live view, a swivel-tilt OLED screen, face recognition, auto-iso and dual SD card slots !!

Oh I have no doubt Nikon will enter the mirrorless market, but that is just the lamest rendering I've ever seen.

No doubt. I did get excited when I saw the crappy rendering! There is also the Canon Canonet/EVIL rumor thats been floating around since 2009. If thats the case then a digital version would in fact be a range finder.
