Uh huh. Right. What a bullying prick. An industry insider telling all the little people that the thing they want the most is real, and then accusing them of having no sense of humor when they fail to enjoy being mocked. And then turning comments off so that he can't hear anyone complain.

Agreed. This has nothing to do with humor as far as I can see; moreover asinine. Then followed by an offensive comment that he directs at anyone who doesn't find it funny. Doesn't come off at all professional.

Why would you guys be pissed at this guy? He has contacts in the camera world and maybe he can convince them to make a new rangefinder based on the hype he produced with his "joke." How is that bad?
 
I just think that he punk'd everyone in a big way. Maybe it will come back to bite him in the butt. Maybe not. Maybe it lowers his standing in the eyes of others. Or maybe not.

My own thoughts are that as a professional, you need to consider the consequences of a prank -- especially when dealing with one that is Internet-based.

I don't really care about digital rangefinders that much but this 'joke' was just terribly lame. April fool's has a specific date and that's April 1st. That's usually the day you actually make the joke. The day you reveal it is usually April 2. Not that hard to understand.
Making an April Fool's joke in late March is not an April Fool's joke. It's just lying. Imagine a newspaper starting to make up stories towards the end of March and then just telling people ''Well, ya know, April 1st was coming up."

Sounds like a poorly thought out joke that got out of hand, and now he's trying to save face by pointing out that it created such a 'buzz' that camera makers took note and may create this thing after all. I've been saying for a while that Cosina would be a great candidate for making "niche" digital SLRs/RFs once prices on sensors and supporting electronics come down far enough... imagine an OM2 size body with a FF sensor, 100% reflective mirror, bright viewfinder.

I'm not pissed off, I just think the joke was snotty and lame.

I had no idea of who he was before and definitely don't care now.
