Jeff Ascough under NDA for new Rangefinder

I agree with Pickett Wilson: several thousands of views at a thread that talks about a rumour that talks about another camera that won't be anything different, speaks of us... I'm as amazed as he is...

OK, keep looking, you might find a camera that changes your photography...

Totally disagree!

I would absolutely prefer not to buy any more camera gear. I have no lust for anything better than my Hexar AF. But I am forced to use digital for some purposes, and the digital cameras on offer are woeful in comparison. It's all either bulky SLRs, or something with no optical viewfinder at all, like the GF1. So if there's a digital that's anywhere close to what I need, I'm up for it, and I suspect many others will be, too.

Of course, whether any manufacturers will rediscover how to make simple, compact cameras with fast focusing and a decent VF is another matter entirely.

Paul, if the reasons are going digital, shooting for money, at what a boss says, and the way a boss says. just like me and other pros do, your best bet are DSLRs... Ask others about what 99,99% of us are using for that, if you don't want my opinion...

Another thing, and a very different one, is the reason for near 20,000 views at this thread... It's not about pros going DRF, it's 10,000 views from people going cheap and trying to save money and time after leaving film and processing, and 10,000 more from people not handling film properly and dreaming better results with digital. Your case may exist, but it's almost an exception... Pros going DRF? You, Bill Pierce and a few more? I respect all of you, OK, you might be 5 or 10, but I'm talking about a commercial thing reflected here, not about you...

Cheers,

Juan

All this talk about about a new digital full frame rangefinder is so passe' ... I spent the day shooting my fifty year old Crown Graphic, doing a little street, and I'm in love with it all over again!

Only three hours until April 1st here by the way ... should I ring Jeff on the stroke of midnight ... does anyone have his number? 😀

Just a warning to you guys, this is almost definitely an april fools thing. I'm 90% sure based on his last post, so don't get excited.

Camera makers should take note the kind of buzz you can get for a product (even an imaginary product) by dropping a single tweet onto the Internet. Stop spending big bucks on advertising and start tweeting!

Over 18,000 views here now.

Nah, Capa mode makes all your shots look like they've been melted in a film dryer.

"Honey, I didn't know I had the camera in Capa mode, only 11 photos of little Bobby's party came out!"
