I am actually happy to see that for Macs, the LS-8000/9000 version allows you to fine-tune 120 filmstrip framing in the overview (thumbnail) mode.
The difficulty I am running into is with 6x4.5 - the overview shows the four frames with a lot of margins. It's not easy to visually center these in such a way that you don't have to re-crop later. Silverfast 6.6 had a narrower 6x4.5 overview opening that (at least with the Windows version) actually managed to find the frames automatically.
All of this would suggest the Job Manager for batch scans - since you can adjust the framing on each prescan before doing the whole batch. Has anyone actually managed to build a list of frames to scan in version 8? The instructions make no sense, and the button to add frames from the overview seems to have disappeared from 6.6. Basically, every time you change prescans, the Job Manager just erases the frame that was previously on the list - meaning that it won't batch more than one negative.
Ideas?
Thanks
Dante
And please - don't mention Vuescan - I've scanned thousands of frames with it, but it doesn't work as well (at least for me) as Silverfast does.

With my Plustek Opticfilm 120 had also issues understanding the Job Manager in the beginning. Sorted some things out.

Hans,
with the help of your instructions, I have managed to get the job manager working for 35mm film - but not for 120 film.
Have you?
But even on 35mm and using a pre-saved frameset, the frames indicated after the prescans are so far off, that I have to correct every single frame.

Sven

Yes, mine works also with the 6x6 and 6x9 holders of the Opticfilm 120.
Don't forget to change holder in Silverfast by choosing the right transparancy format.
Discovered that Silverfast looks at fixed positions on those selected holders. No way to change that except by manually re-positioning the filmstrip :-(

Yes, same here, I have even marked the positions of the sliding frames on the 6x6 holder, because if these are moved more than a few millimeters, there is no way to adjust the frame in Silverfast accordingly.

That may be related to the version of Silverfast that you run. I have now version 8.0.1r24 Buildnr: 9173 running.

That's strange indeed Dante !
Did you select a tranparancy format before starting the Overview ?
Did you turn that Scanpilot off ?

Dear users,
The OpticFilm 120 unfortunately does not have a fine adjustment for the film position.
It uses a fixed spacing depending on the selected film size.
Therefor we unfortunately can not offer an offset tool for this device.
Dear Dante,
I have checked the function with our own Nikon and you are right.
The button is in deed missing, thank you for that.
Our developers are already working on this matter and we will soon offer an update which will ensure the functionality you seek.

Thanks for the quick response, Arne. Any ideas on the time frame for the button?
One other unexpected problem with the LS-8000 is that in any grayscale mode, the "auto on batch" function does not work. It does work in every color mode. iSDR is off.
Thanks

Arne,
I'm just trying Silverfast AI Studio here with my Reflecta RPS 7200 Pro, and there's no button here either, I am about to purchase this software if I can make the "batch" scanning of my strips work well.
When is a new build estimated to fix this ?
Thanks.
JF.

Our developers are currently including this feature for all devices which can support it.
I do not yet have a final date but I expect the feature to become available within the next weeks.

I called Lasersoft, and Arne is on a probably very well deserved vacation for a cpl of weeks.
Though I also got a confirmation that the function we are waiting for is implemented for most of the scanners supporting ADR scanning (amongst them the Reflecta RPS 7200 Pro) in a new version that will be released in about two weeks.
Great support at Lasersoft, I am very happy I bought Silverfast in the end!!

Cheers
