so i've lurked here for a couple years. learned about a lot of famous photographers, but this one slipped through the cracks. hope to bring him toa attention of others too...check ou u tube video. cheers!

I suspect this is the YouTube video he is referring to. Googling Joe Clark Hillbilly Shapshooter will take you to many of his photos and discussion about him.

There's no direct link; this guy's been gone for years. Former Hudson's department store security guard who authored, shot, and self-published (a now very expensive) book called "Detroit: God's Greatest City." I have a copy of it.

First time I saw one of his photos was around 1965. It was on a Chet Atkins album. It looked like an old photo, but later I found it really wasn't that old.

Just try and find something about Joe Clark on the InterNet. It is pretty scarce.

Google using "Joe Clark Hillbilly Snapshooter" gave me many individual hits.

It is possible that my definition of "many" and yours of "pretty scarce" could end up being the same number.

After 5 pages of book ads I still didn't know when he was born. I gave up after hearing ol' Joe Clark played and sung by everybody, but Beyonce.

Maybe I'm just not good at Googling.
