Judgement Day May 21st 2011

... more important is getting the exposure right, what with Death, I imagine he's got a pretty conservative colour sense, on that pale-horse all backlighted with Hell close behind .... tricky lighting if you ask me.

Noted.

So where will this happen? Do we have an area for pro photographers only?

Is there a metal detector at the Pearly Gates? What are they going to say about my M2? More to the point, is there D-76 in Heaven, and if so, how will the heavenly environment affect developing times? If Heaven is a balmy 80°, how will I cool my developer to 68°? Is there a central requisition office to petition for a darkroom somewhere? Wait a minute, is there any darkness at all?

If there weren't, how could it qualify as heaven?

Cheers,

R.

I wonder if the seven seals have an L on them

Best take a Colour Temperature Meter and some C.C. filters to get rid of the colour cast. An 80 A might work.

I would be careful how you make lite of this. Jesus is coming again, just not May 21, 2011. Jesus said "No man knoweth the day nor the hour, but my Father only" Harold Camping of Family Radio has a mixed up theology. Just as most people have a mixed up theology of thinking one has to do good "deeds" to earn their spot in heaven. A person goes to heaven because of believing & accepting on what Jesus did for them on the Cross. It's only by Grace alone, through Faith alone in the finished work of Christ that will guarentee you heaven.:)

Of course God is in the west! Hahahaha!
I'm sure no barbies are getting canceled this weekend because of the end of the world.
I love how there are so many interpretations of this as well. At exactly what time it starts, etc. They say 6pm local time, starting in NZ. Great earthquake, huh? Well, energy moves through the crust of the earth at over 6 times the speed of sound (in a standard atmosphere). But I guess that earthquake is going to move more slowly and chomp up the earth in a period of 24 hours instead of circling the globe multiple times in less than a day (recent earthquake in Japan, Sunda Megathrust event, every earthquake that rings the planet like a bell).

The good thing is that if it should actually happen, a bunch of these annoying nutjobs will be gone.

From my favorite preacher who really knew the secrets of the universe:
"...because for the last ten years we've seen the rise of conservatives and fundamentalists... Who try and tell us what to believe and what to think. I've got a bold admission if you're one of those people, are you ready for it? They say rock n' roll is the Devil's music. Well lets say we know for a fact that rock 'n roll IS the Devil's music. And we know that it's for sure, OK? At least he f***ing jams! If it's a choice between eternal hell and good tunes and eternal heaven and [band's name]... I'm gonna be surfing on the lake of fire, rocking out." - Bill Hicks

That about sums it up I think.

yup, the lamb is getting prepared to open that seventh seal.

wouldn't it be ironic if this prediction came to pass, but that the folks engulfed in flames were the groups espousing all this nonsense, leaving the rest us to enjoy ourselves in peace and quiet?

see you all next week!

to you believers, no offense intended by my here. I simply don't share your views. I am in awe of your faith but have absolutely none myself.

if there were a supreme being, I am fairly certain she/he/it would be capable of selecting a better mouthpiece on earth than the likes of Harold Camping. after all, the last time old Harold made this prediction, when it didn't come to pass he claimed that he missed an entire book of the Bible and screwed up his calculations. A supreme being would surely be able to find a person who could do the math, right?

Yup.
If Stephen Hawking makes a proclamation about the impending end of the world, based upon math and science, I'd listen and give it some serious consideration.

I don't think it will come to pass tomorrow at all, but you may be more right than you realize. It so happens that the theology of Family Radio & the theology of Westboro Baptist Church as concerning that some folk are elected to heaven & the rest, (the non-elect) are doomed for the Lake of Fire is exactly the same gospel they preach! I feel sad for these people, thats why I don't make much lite of them, even though they are nuts. & by nuts I mean sincerely wrong.

He's already put forth his proof there is no heaven... Kind of the same deal, methinks.

None taken Rob. Mr Camping needs to realize that the bible isn't a math book. Perhaps on May the 22nd he will.;) As for faith you got to have some...you ride a bike!:D

There are about 38,000 versions of christianity, holing up in North America alone. Each version will have a different take on the "rapture". There is hardy a consensus on who or what god is let alone what the rapture is or what the rapture means.

There is a 1/38,000 chance of getting the date right.

Then to really mess things up, there is Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism, Voodoo etc. to break up the rapture possibility pie even farther.

I think I'll take my chances elsewhere.

Its not that Camping MIGHT be wrong, or that he has one of many possible views on the rapture. It's that he is wrong, and is disproven by scripture, which he supposedly has used to construct this crazy idea.

1 Thessalonians 5:2 - the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night.

Matthew 24:36 - But about that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.

So I guess Camping is smarter than Jesus?

I have read Revelation a few times... I can't seem to find the Biblical symbol that represents an advertising campaign aimed at warning people before things get started...

In all seriousness, though. I understand how overwhelming religion and theology are. There are many viewpoints on eternity, and it's literally impossible to have 'all the answers'. I am a strong advocate though, for searching out those answers. Being open minded about all possibilities, while critical of their application/weaknesses is part of walking a pathway to finding the truth.

Personally, I think the most important thing we can do with this life is figure out what happens after it. Have a great weekend, everyone!

Use a heavier camera. Heavy is better as it can double as a zombie-killing weapon. Zombies have thin skulls.
