I noticed a very curious thing today while trying to figure out whether the focusing patch on my R-D1 was vertically aligned: on the first exposure after moving the focus ring on a lens, the patch will jump slightly as the shutter is pressed. The movement seems to be in the same direction as the last turn of the focus ring.
I tried this on two different lenses (75/2 Summicron and 21/2.8 Elmarit) with repeatable results in both cases. The movement is slight, but clearly visible through the viewfinder. If I wind and take another shot without moving the focus ring, the patch stays put. It's as if some slack in the rangefinder linkage is taken up by the first impulse of the shutter mechanism opening and closing.
Has anyone else seen this?
