Jupiter-12 35mm f/2.8 Lens Question

Will this lens work on the R-D1? I've seen it used with the R-D1 on Japanese sites but since I can't read Japanese and translation software isn't too good I can't figure out if they got it to work with an adapter, modification or as is.

The reason why I'm asking is because the photos I've seen of the back lens is long and looks like it might hit the shutter.

Any other comments on the lens is also appreciated.

I don't have an RD-1, however isn't this camera mechanically identical lens-mount and shutter wise to the Voigtlander R2a, and R3a? If so, I do not think the J-12 will work, and it certainly will interfere with metering.

I believe it's the same body but I'm not sure how identical it is, especially the guts.

Here are some sites that display photos shot with the R-D1 and this particular lens. It's in Japanese so if anyone can translate for me it would be great.

I have a chrome one from the mid-60's which works very well on the R-D1, even wide open and close-up. The jupiter 12 by report varies in quality between specimens, but all should fit the R-D1 just fine.

Thank you Ed! Looks like I'm going to have pick one up.

I've heard different opinions about quality. Some say the later 80s models are better and some say the older are better. What have you heard?
 
In general people say that the late black ones have the best quality control, but my silver one (I was wrong when I last wrote -- it is mid-50's not mid-60's) is truly excellent. The nice thing about the R-D1 is that you can put a new lens through its paces rapidly. I'd only buy one where I had a return privledge.

Running the first link through babelfish.altavista.com suggests that the extra 1mm thickness of the LTM->M mount adapter gives enough clearance for the Jupiter 12 on the R-D1 (e.g., from 21.5mm to 20.5mm).
