Will this lens work well with the Canon rangefinders?

Yes it will, but on some J-12s not all, the protruding rear lens group might hit the side baffles on the Canon P and 7.
My J-12 fits fine on my Canon 7 though.

No, it does not quite fit..rear element rubs on upper light baffle (damn!) as does the collapsing Summicron. Oh well 😕

It does fit on my Canon 7 although I mostly use it on my M2.......a surprisingly great lens!!

what xayraa33 said, it depends on your particular J-12. I used to own a 1983 J-12 from the Lytkarino factory that would not fit on the Canon P or a Canon 7, but fit just fine on the bottom-loader Canons like the IVSB. Similar results with a 1950 KMZ J-12, fit the bottom-loaders only.
