My J8 lens has had its aperture ring come loose, one of the pins on the ring came out, how would one go about repairing this? If I press down from the opposite side i can adjust the aperture fine, so one side is catching a little bit.

Anyone know what I can use in the holes on the aperture ring? Anyone? I've tried seeing if a paper clip works, and the answer is not really.

Don't own a Jup-8 myself. Is it a grub screw that's coming out? If so I imagine you could salvage one from elsewhere

The "pins" are actually *very* tiny screws, you'll be lucky to get anything else to work except the correct screw.
I'd love to help but it's one part I don't have...maybe you can pick up a damaged lens from the auction site or somewhere? Condition won't be important so it would be cheap. Failing that, a replacement J-8 won't cost a lot, you can often get one cheaply with a broken Zorki 4 or 4K.
EDIT: Just a thought, you could try PM-ing the lens gurus, Brian Sweeney or Kim Coxon, they may well have a spare one.

You should see the slot in the screws to tighten them with a jewelers screwdriver. Two screws in tight is plenty to turn the ring, even one. I've seen a lot of hacks, and the screws strip easily. I've seen a lot of them with the slot stripped off that looks like a pin. I've drilled them out before.

One of the 3 screws was missing from mine. If I'm gentle, the other two work fine holding it in.
Short of buying another J8 as a parts lens, what is the best way to get replacement screws like this? How do people find out what the specs of the screws are in the first place?

I think I'm going to ditch this idea and get myself a J3, so I'm in the market for one now.
I did take it to a jeweler in my area, since it's the only person I could think of who has experience with delicate mechanics, and I'm basically out of luck. I posted up an ad on APUG, so I guess I'll just wait it out.
And mine is missing two screws, the third is coming out now. :\
