I have a jupiter 8, that came with my zorki-4k, that has rather oily aperture blades. Now I don't know much about these lens, but in general I've been advised to avoid oily blades on lenses. Is this a major issue, or even an issue at all?
I had a look at my Jupiter 8 a couple of nights ago and realised that the blades were very oily. In fact I was about to start a thread about just this when I see you have done so. I think my lens was made in 1977 - the serial number starts like this anyway. It seems to be in great condition other than the oily blades. It doesn't look as if it has been tampered with in any way, so I concluded the oil must have been there to start with! Funny though because when I got the lens a couple of weeks back I can't remember seeing it on the blades. However as everything look clear I am just going to hope I get some good pictures - but that doesn't happen to be my highest priority at present!
