I have just acquired a Leica II or D in excellent shape. I have mounted a 35mm Elmar, 50 mm Elmar, various Industars, a Jupiter 12 35 mm, Jupiter 3 50 mm, and Jupiter 11, 135 mm, with no problems, obtaining good quality images. However, my Jupiter 9, 85mm, f2, will screw in only part way, and then I meet resistance. The Jupiter 9 mounts fine on a Leica IIIC, and on various Zorkis and FEDs. I have cleaned the threads on both the lens and the body of the II, I mount with the lens at the nearest focus, but have also tried mounting at infinity. No change. I don't want to force anything. Any ideas? Thanks, Dave

Hey Dave. Can't help with a solution [yet]. But I feel your pain. I too have a Leica.III that my Jupiter.12 goes on fine about half-way and stops. The same lens mounts smoothly (and spends most of it's time) on my other Leica.III. My Orion.15, Jupiter.8 and several Industar collapsibles all fit both cameras easily... it's just the darn Jupiter.12, which, BTW, I enjoy shooting maybe more than all the others.

I plan on loosening the lens mount from the body, back the screws off a turn or so, and see if it's maybe skewed/tweaked just enough to cause binding. Be sure and post if you find a solution with yours. Good luck!

Somewhere I heard that the threaded rim of the J-9 is a bit thicker and will come in contact with the rf cam of older Leicas but will work fine on others.

Try turning the focus to the closest focus point and see if it will mount..if not then the above applies..
