Kent - thanks, this one went for about 1/2 what they have cost recently - I put a low bid on not expecting to win it. Im sure the original owner isnt to happy, but I sure am!
Only thing I need now (yea right!) is a decent 25mm and I willbe happy.

RD1 arrived today - took a visit to my favourite camera testing site; a very old grave yard.
Im just processing the images now.
I used a CV35 f4 and a jupiter 3 50 1.5. Very pleased with the ones from the CV, I missed focus quite a few times with the J3 at 1.5. It was just starting to get dark so thats my excuse!
If I manage to get themposted up somewhere I will link to them.
So far very happy, totaly different feel to my also new XP1.

Glad you are enjoying it. The R-D1 is a very very fun camera. Certainly has limitations, but for the most part its benefits far outweighs its dated technology, imo.

I was sitting watching a documenary on ITV player and browsing Ebay, I saw an R-D1 and put a bid on.... 20 mins later I ha won it !

I had hankered after one for a long time, but the price kept putting me off. Now there should be one winging its way to me very soon.

I know most of the issues, but is there anything I should look out for, or anything I should grab in the meantime (spare batteries??).

Ive spent far to much recently on camera gear - must stop....!

Gary, I got my last RD1 batteries form 7dayshop.com which no doubt you've heard of. I've bought spare third party batteries from them over many years for many different cameras and theyve always worked as well as the originals. Check out their website. Oh and enjoy your new toy🙂

Thanks very much for that! I wonder why they wouldn't show for me, perhaps it's because I'm in the UK?

Next question is do these cards send RAW or just JPEG as I know they do two versions currently... I always shoot RAW so if they do then I'll be happy...

OK it turns out the 2GB card only sends Jpeg but with the R-D1 doing JPEG and RAW at the same time it might be useful for snaps and having the RAW on file for any shots you want to develop further.

Weird that the 2GB cards seem to only be in the US and 'ebayers' seem only to want to post them within the states... I assume the cards would work in the UK just as they do over there?

for the suggestions.
I checked the local Jessops - no suitable batteries. I see them on 7dayshop but after the first weekend of playing with the new toy I think the two that I have will do the job.
The only issue that I have so far is that he RF patch is a lot more opaque than either my M's or the bessas that I have, Makes it more difficult for my worn out eyes to focus with lenses like the jupiter 50 1.5.

I took the camera to my favorite testing sites (old grave yard and a local forest park) along with the new x-pro 1. The old Epson held up well againist the new boy, for B&W I definatly prefer the images directly out of the RD.

I will try and get someexamples posted up soon.

My ''new' RD! arrived today, with neither batteries nor cables, so it will be a day or two before I get to have areal play. Very frustrating.

I too will be using the camera alongside a brand spanking new xp1. The only way I can compare the two at this stage is to say the simplicity of the RD! is very appealing .
