I wouldn't have minded a little, but everything from the strap, and rubber smell made me dizzy and almost threw up... I was nauseous for 2 days even after I returned it just by thinking about the smell.
>_<
so... i'm in the market for another one... *sigh*
i just got my refund from the return of an online auction purchase of a smoke smelling R-D1. the seller was GREAT to deal with and totally understood the return. no problems.
anyway fyi/heads up: if anyone happens to see an international online auction seller with a new listing for a "mint" R-D1, maybe go back and peruse the sellers recent auctions to see if the same serial number camera has been sold a few times in the recent past. that could be old smokey.
