Well this morning off I set to my local camera clinic/shop that I have been using for the last twenty years. On arrival in the display cabinet was a G1 with 45/2 Planar, how much I enquired, 'since its you £200' I did not hesitate and I bought it but it got better, 'it comes with all this as well' he said. So i got a Contax Green label G1, Zeiss Planar 45/2, Contax flash, lens cap, lens hood, instruction book and Contax strap all for £200. So I am very happy and I am going to spend the rest of the day thumbing trough the manual. I have toyed with getting one of these for a while as the glass has a great reputation. I feel I got a bargain

congratulations on your great buy! This camera is a real gem...I bought mine unplanned and I am so happy with it. Some will say G2 is better but I like the size of G1 and I dont have any trouble in focusing. One thing you might consider buying charger and rechargable CR2 batteries.

And I am sure you will be buying 90mm and a wide angle lens soon :))

Enjoy!

this was a fair price, esp. with all these goodies! No wonder you are happy about it!
Great lenses available for Contax G1, the Planar 2/45 you own is one of my favourites

The prices for the lenses keep going up after bottoming out a couple years ago. I have one with the 35, 45 and 90 lenses, need to get the 21 but they are priced insanely (to me) high.

You'll love the look the give you.

thanks chaps, I'm sitting here like a kid at christmas, Ifeel I managed to get a good bargain, (not sure if the wife will understand though).

Congrats Mike. Used to have one myself. The lens quality is nothing short of superb. Enjoy!

Just had a look into the bag of stuff that came with the camera and found ancontax electronic release too..........................it just gets better and better

you can get CR2 battery and a charger on dealextrem, I bought it there for 12€ because the cell (around here) are quite expensive

...my G1 just came in, too, from KEH here in the states...now I've got two of them--one with a 45mm for inside the house (I document my not-well wife's journey), and one with a 28mm as a walkabout in town...they are such terrific cameras and lenses, and I find Don's observation correct--the prices have been moving up...
