I was think about just going for the VC, its probably more accurate, and it won't scratch my top plate. I have a minolta Auto meter II, but its pretty bulky, so I would like to get away from it.

Looks like you'll all have to wait a bit longer for test shots. I'm an idiot and I didn't fully deploy my collapsible lens in the first three rolls I shot. I didn't know that you had to turn the barrel to lock it in place, so all my pics are out of focus.

right choice, cool camera, perfect. see how the 50 works for you, and if at some point you feel like it, there's plenty very affordable and very good lenses of other focal lengths out there.

I don't know about your budget, but youxin ye does a good CLA and recovering at a very decent price. he's also very fast and a nice guy to deal with. if you find you don't need a CLA for now - even better.

Sweet! You know in pictures of cameras, missing pieces of vulcanite always stand out. But if you use it (my M2 has a tiny bit missing too) it just doesn't matter at all. I'd definitely get it CLA'd though. The lubricants will be dried out and while it'll work fine, it'll last longer if it's properly lubed up. It'll be much smoother too.

Chris, I have to agree with you, most eBay "wins" are just purchases at the normal going rate in a auction format.

I'm starting to think I may forgo getting the VC II and opt for a Sekonic L-308 instead. It looks pretty pocket-able, its only as thick as a AA battery.

I need to pick up some odds and ends though, any recommendations on the following would be helpful:
-A neck strap that won't scratch up the sides of my camera.
-A lens cap for my lens. I saw some 39mm #14031 lens caps on KEH but I'm not sure if those are the right ones or not.
-A wide angle lens: I'm thinking about getting either a CV 15mm Heliar, a 21mm Skopar, or a 25mm Skopar. I like that you can scale focus to 18" on the 21mm Skopar, and I'm kind of favoring it because KEH has them for just over 300 with a finder. Should I go this route or is there a better recommendation in the 300-400 dollar range?

Congrats on a great deal. I`d suggest getting the 21mm skopar, the angle of view can add lots of drama to your shots, but don`t over do it, watch your foregrounds. With the Sekonic L 308 meter you will be able to take incident readings as well as reflective, so more versatile.

And flash metering as well. I know a lot of RF users don't like to use strobes, but I use them all the time.

the 21mm f4 CV-CS is very very good for the price it demands. especially the cheaper LTM version (I got mine for 200€ last year, new from the official Voigtländer retailer here in germany. without the finder though.). very popular too, at the recent 'RFF Euromeet' in Florence, Italy we found that almost everyone with an M (or LTM) camera has or has previously owned this lens.
