Just got a Mamiya 6

Wonderful news about the new job, Chris. You really deserve it! Looking forward to more excellent photos from Ft Wayne with the new Mamiya 6. Continue the series in style! I have really enjoyed my Mamiya 7, but need to get out and use it more...you have once again given me inspiration to go out and photograph. Thanks from a fellow Hoosier, born and raised in Bloomington-- Go IU!

Best,

Kent

Another new one from the Mamiya 6. I shot this on Tri-X developed in PMK.

This tire swing hangs fron a lone tree behind Custom Truck, Inc. on Indianapolis Road in southwest Allen County, Indiana. The business's owners live in a house next to the shop.

I photographed it the first time after a heavy snowfall about a week before I made this one. The snow was gone this time, but the day was very foggy with a drizzle of rain.

I never use the meter. Like all built in meters, it is useless to me. It matches my handheld spot meter if both are pointed at a solid colored wall, but in real world use, averaging meters like the ones most cameras have are simply fooled by skies and other irregular subjects way too often. 95% of the time, my exposure determined with my spot meter and the zone system is way off what camera meters say, and my film is PERFECTLY exposed my way. I don't even have batteries in my Leica M6 bodies, since all they do is power the useless meter. The Mamiya has an electronic shutter, so I'm stuck with the meter, but I just ignore it.

EDIT: nice work Chris

Even though I am not really 'that type of guy' 🙂 I have to admit that I use my Digisix (mostly in incident mode as there is no real spot option with it) most of the time when I shoot with Mamiya 6. I even got the Minolta Spotmeter, but did not warm up to it and will probably swap it for a Pentax Spotmeter soon.

Congrats on the well paying teaching job. The rest is of secondary importance.
The mamiya has a great reputation.

Congratulations on new job... Have fun w/ the Mamiya 6. I think u will love it.

As always u have a great eye..
