Just received by 50mm planar from Popflash. What a beauty! Tony is a really nice guy (as many of you already know). I ordered the lens on Tuesday and the lens arrived today, free shipping.
Gonna run a roll of film this weekend with this lens.
I'll probably post a few pics next week.

Xabi, let me know if I should trade in my 50 Summicron for this lens.

Yeah, I'll. I had two 50mm summicron before, and a 50mm summilux. I'm sure that the 50 planar will be the same in terms of optical quality. But with the same money I'd pay for a used 'cron, I get a new lens + 2 years of warranty.
I'll definitely post some pics taken with this lens later next week.
Frank, we're all waiting for you to order your 50 planar.

The only leitz lens I own is an old Summitar. I have mostly CV and Russian glass, so I can't compare to modern leitz lenses, but I love my 50 planar. It is amazing and blows everything else I have out of the water as it should be expected to.
It is extremely sharp, but what I like most about it is its smoothness of transition in tones and in and out of focus areas. It has substantial contrast, but greater tonal range than my CV stuff.

I got a "used" planar about a month ago via ebay and it is a wonderful lens it also balances the ikon body perfectly also got a viogt lens shade at same time and that is beautifully crafted as well.
optically it is superior to my 1.8 planar on a rollei sl2000 which i rated as the best lens I have personally ever used
Certainly a match for anything Leica are producing at present
also like the touch of using sloted machine screws in the mount rather than hex or philips head only small but a very nice touch
