I just got my first Leica, a 1936 Leica III(f) with a Summitar I got from Croydon camera on eBay! The craftsmanship is amazing. The Summitar stops down to f/16 and there is a slight blue tint to the glass so I'm thinking it's coated (is that right?). Also, there is a little bit of play between the front lense element and the rear element when extended, less than a millimeter. Is this a common problem? After manipulating the camera for about 10 minutes, I was able to load some film. I can't wait to see the results!

There might be just detectable movement in the heliciod if it is dry. It is normally masked by a light grease but I prefer it dry with whatever slack there is.

I hope you're happy with what you get, but not so happy that you don't try to do better.

Do you mean trying to get better at taking pictures? If so, I couldn't agree more. After all, what good is a camera if your not going to take pictures with it?
