Just got my GSN in the mail!

Of course, I have a question or two.

One, my shutter release seems to require a bit of effort at the bottom of the release for the shutter to actually fire. Is this normal? Pressing the buttong is smooth, it just takes an extra squeeze at the end to actually make it fire. Is there anything i can do? I guess, on the bright side, it won't fire in my pocket... 🙂

Secondly, the film counter only returns to 4. I've already cleaned the rangefinder and adjusted the counter setting, but as soon as i got it together again and test fired a few, it only returned to 4 again. 🙁

ah well...we'll see how she works after a light seal change.

There is a bit more resistance when you actually trip the shutter. The first part of the button depression engages the contacts for the meter.

The film advance counter? Never messed with that. It looks pretty Rube Golbergish on the torn apart Yashica I have for parts.

my GSN is about the same as Jon's.. you can push the shutter release down quite a ways before the shutter actually releases.. which is a good thing since I frequently have to work the release up and down to get the meter contacts to 'wake up'

otherwise, a light seal replacement and a fresh battery were all mine needed.. does yours have the typical wobbly focusing ring like mine does?

the whole lens attachment is a little loose, but not enough for me to bother with i think...I fixed an eematic which had two of it's screws come out inside the lens housing, I can't tell you how frustrated i became chasing tiny screws into the camera body, one worked it's way out under the advance lever. grrr.

for me, the shutter engages the contacts fine, but sometimes, at the bottom of the release, it takes an extra effort to get the shutter to trip. effort that leaves an indent on my finger. oh well, it's what i go to the gym for, right?

It shouldn't be that hard. You might want to take the bottom off and see what is happening at that end.
